This is our son Tom’s bedroom which I designed six years ago. Tom is almost 16 and still loves his bedroom. While the lego characters have now been packed away and replaced with trophies and books, his bedroom is a place he can play music, read, study and hang out with friends.
The Nordic-inspired scheme included the design of custom joinery of a bed with storage underneath, bench seat with storage, wardrobe, study desk, and display shelving.
The design needed to be adaptable so his bedroom could be updated as Tom’s tastes changed through adolescence.

I am passionate about the way a room feels just as much as the way it looks. Hygge is not a look but more a feeling that a space gives you when you walk into it. Put simply it is a feeling of warmth, comfort, and cosiness. Feeling safe and sheltered.
Mum also included many interesting features or ‘wow factors’ in my room. These include a strip light above the desk that can be turned on by the wave of a hand, a custom-made bed frame with large drawers underneath and display shelves above my bed which have allowed me to redecorate my room now I am older and my interests changed. I am incredibly grateful for the beautifully crafted room that Mum designed and created for me.
